Pokémon Go has announced its New Year’s event, which it is putting on with the help of the Slowpoke evolution line, featuring festive Pokémon.

Pokémon GO will be ringing in the New Year with everyone else, and it’s bringing Slowbro along for the party. The game is currently running its holiday event with boosted Ice-type Pokémon and festive costumes, and that will roll right into this newly announced celebration. 2022 is looking bright for Pokémon GO fans.

This isn’t the first time Pokémon GO has celebrated holidays. Players were able to participate in the Halloween Mischief event the second half of October, and while Thanksgiving didn’t technically get its own event, it did herald the end of the Season of Mischief. December has had its own events and theming, proving that the 5-and-a-half-year-old game still has plenty in store for its fans. The recent launch of Pokémon GO Season 10 brought in what the game calls its Season of Heritage, which may tie into Pokémon Legends: Arceus, which is due out on January 28th. That event appears to be continuing into the New Year.

A new Pokémon GO blog post announces the upcoming New Year’s celebration, with a little special attention being paid to Slowpoke and its evolutions. Running from December 31st at 10:00 p.m. to Tuesday, January 4th at 8 p.m. local time, the event picks up where the holiday event leaves off and continues the Season of Heritage story. For the first three days of the New Year’s celebration, fireworks will appear in the game, and with them come bonuses: 2x Hatch Stardust, 2x Hatch Candy, and ½ Hatch Distance, great boons for those looking to hatch eggs. While Pokémon GO’s eggs have faced criticisms of being akin to loot boxes and gambling, plenty of gamers still need to hatch them, so this event should help.

But the fun doesn’t stop there. There’s Timed Research that can be completed during the event, and with it come Pokémon specially decked out in New Year’s gear, including starter Pokémon in party hats and the Slowpoke line wearing New Year’s glasses that are a bit behind the times. These festive Pokémon will also appear in wild encounters, raids, and eggs, so gamers will have multiple chances to catch them. The event also includes some new avatar items and stickers in the in-game shop and found at Pokéstops and by opening Gifts.

So, it’s clear to see that Pokémon GO is looking to close 2021 with a bang. That should continue right into 2022, since Niantic has already announced the January 2022 Community…

Pokemon Unite is on a roll, and we’ve got 3 new Pokemon leaked to come to the game soon including fan-favorite Decidueye.

Lately, Pokemon Unite has been killing it with the new additions. We’ve had a new Pokemon arrive with every couple of weeks, and every one feels fun and varied.

Most recently, we finally got Sylveon and the new addition wasted no time rocketing to the top of the Pokemon Unite Tier List!

Not 48 hours later, Sylveon was hit by a massive nerf to balance the Pokemon.

Now, the Attacker is in a much better place, though Pokemon Unite’s best Sylveon build is still incredibly powerful.

before that, we saw Mamoswine come out of the left field, and the ginormous Pokemon is incredibly fun to play. And now we know about 3 more challengers that may be dropping into the game soon.

Next Pokemon Coming to Pokemon Unite – Datamine Leaks

Thanks to a new leak from a Pokemon Unite dataminer, it seems we have 3 new Pokemon coming soon to Pokemon Unite!

Right now, we’ve got no official announcement as to what the next Pokemon will be in Pokemon Unite. For the first time since the game’s official launch, we’re completely in the dark.

Or at least we would be, if not for the talented dataminer eclipse_tt on Twitter. The Pokemon leaker reveals 3 new creatures that are likely to be coming to Unite very soon.

First of all, it seems that Pokemon Sword & Shield’s Greedent is coming to the game. This Normal-Type Pokemon is a bit of an odd pick, but Pokemon Unite does throw us some curveballs from time to time.

Greedent evolves from Skwovet and the squirrel-like Pokemon is known for its greedy nature. Expect benefits for eating Berries and maybe even the ability to store them in its cheeks if this leak becomes a reality.

Next up in the recent datamine was Thievul, a Dark-Type fox Pokemon also from Gen 8. This time though, Thievul is reportedly in the Pokemon Unite files as a ‘mob’, suggesting that it’ll be a new Wild Pokemon, rather than…

The Witcher was already a pretty nerdy franchise (in a good way), and that nerdy passion is shared by both the fans and even Henry Cavill.

It’s always a truly special situation when an actor feels a particular connection to their role. People like J.K. Simmons as J. Johan Jameson and Maggie Smith as Professor McGonagall come to mind as performers who are so perfectly suited for their parts that it’s almost scary. But Henry Cavill’s role in The Witcher shows what happens when the connection goes beyond the character itself?

Those situations are fewer and far between, but that just makes them all the more significant when they pop up. In the case of The Witcher‘s Cavill, audiences instantly fell in love with his gruff and grunty take on the titular character, Geralt of Rivia. But it turned out that Cavill’s suitability for the role came from more than just a lucky set of acting skills. He absolutely loves The Witcher as a franchise, from the books to the games and beyond, and that passion came in handy during filming.

In a recent interview with South African entertainment news site Fortress of Solitude, stars Anya Chalotra (Yennefer) and Freya Allan (Ciri) joinedThe Witcher showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich to speak about their experiences on the show and the upcoming season. Naturally, as these things go, the discussion inevitably shifted to their co-stars, specifically Cavill himself as Geralt. The 3 were quick to point out how dedicated he is to not only his role, but the entire lore of the show itself, and singled him out when asked which cast member is the best Witcher player when it comes to the games.

“He’s a total nerd,” Chalotra said, before Allan added, “he’s like a Witcher bible on set. We’ll be doing a scene and he’ll be like ‘I think we should use this line from page 253 of Blood of Elves,’ and I’m like how does this dude know all this stuff?” Suddenly Cavill’s admission that he revisited the Witcher games before filming season 2 seems that much more on-brand for the beloved actor.

That sort of commitment to the bit is a true rarity in Hollywood. Sure, plenty of people will employ particularly intense method acting…
