The Kanto Tour in Pokémon Go is about to begin, but before trainers can catch every Pokémon from the Kanto region, there’s one last event to get through—and this one revolves around Team Go Rocket.

The Team Go Rocket Celebration will bring different Pokémon encounters in the overworld, as well as new Shadow Pokémon to catch and purify.

For five days, Pokémon Go trainers can enjoy some intense battles and complete some research tasks that will reward Pokémon encounters and much more.

POKEMON GO TEAM ROCKET CELEBRATION START TIME

The Team Go Rocket Celebration event begins Tuesday, February 2, at 10 a.m. local time and ends Sunday, February 7, at 8 p.m. local time.

POKEMON GO TEAM ROCKET CELEBRATION RESEARCH TASKS

The official Pokémon Go blog has confirmed that there will be Field Research and Timed Research.

Now that the event is live we know the specific tasks trainers can complete, which you can read below.

  • Catch 7 Poison-type Pokémon – Gligar
  • Catch 15 Dark-type Pokémon – Umbreon
  • Defeat 2 Team Go Rocket Grunts – Nidoran (male or female)
  • Purify 3 Shadow Pokémon – Misdreavus

As for the timed research tasks, you can complete the following missions:

  • Defeat 1 Team Go Rocket Grunt – Potion (x10)
  • Defeat 2 Team Go Rocket Grunts – Super Potion (x5)
  • Defeat 6 Team Go Rocket Grunts – Revive (x3)

Completion rewards: Golbat, Rocket Radar, Poke Ball (x10)

  • Defeat 1 Team Go Rocket Grunt – Super Potion (x10)
  • Defeat 2 Team Go Rocket Grunts – Hyper Potion (x5)
  • Defeat 6 Team Go Rocket Grunts – Max Revive (x3)

Completion rewards: Rocket Radar, Misdreavus, Poke Ball (x15)

While you’re completing the above tasks, you can also complete the special Team GO Rocket-themed Timed Research that rewards a special Ho-Oh will still be in effect during this upcoming event.

As a refresher, here are the tasks that need to be completed:

  • Catch 15 Dark-type Pokémon – Great Ball (x5).
  • Catch 15 Shadow Pokémon – Revive (x5).
  • Defeat a Team Go Rocket Leader three times – Larvitar.

Completion rewards: Poke Ball (x15), Incense, 5000XP.

  • Defeat Arlo – Max Revive (x2).
  • Defeat Cliff – Hyper Potion (x3).
  • Defeat Sierra – Max Potion (x2).

Completion rewards: Ho-Oh.

NEW SHADOW POKEMON

When the event begins, Team Go Rocket will be fielding different teams that you might not be used to battling. Those teams should feature new Pokémon, and will also give trainers a chance to catch different species of Shadow Pokémon.

Swinub, Nosepass, Aron, Spheal, Lileep and Anorith are a handful of the new Shadow Pokémon that will debut in Pokémon Go during this Team Rocket event.

Defeating Team Go Rocket Leaders will reward trainers with special stickers and Strange Eggs. These Eggs will have the following Pokémon hatch out of them during and after the upcoming Team Rocket event: Qwilfish, Larvitar, Corphish, Absol, Skorupi, Sandile, Scraggy, Pawniard, Vullaby and Deino.

POKEMON GO TEAM ROCKET RAID UPDATE

Raids will also update during the Team Go Rocket event and trainers will see the following Pokémon in their respective Raids:

One-star raids: Alolan Meowth, Alolan Grimer, Gligar, Sneasel, Shinx, and Klink.

Three-star raids: Nidoqueen, Ariados, Umbreon, Tyranitar, and Absol.

Five-star raids: Raikou will appear in five-star Raids at the start of the event, but Suicune will take its place starting Thursday.

Mega Raids: Mega Venusaur, Mega Ampharos, and Mega Houndoom

IN-GAME BONUSES

Eggs will take half the distance to hatch during the Team Go Rocket event. This will be especially helpful to hatch those 12km Strange Eggs.

Also, the following Pokémon will appear more frequently in the wild: Golbat, Koffing, Ariados, Qwilfish, Sneasel, Houndour, Nuzleaf, Stunky, Skorupi and Venipede.
