Pokemon GO

Beldum is one of those little creatures that eluded me for a good long while. Metagross had been one of the last remaining blank spots in my Hoeen Pokedex before I managed to scrape together enough candy to evolve a Metang. Then, of course, the thing showed up in Community Day and now, like Tyranitar before it, it became common. If you missed some of those earlier events, however, you won’t want to miss this one, because Metagross is a beast. Here’s what you need to know about the Psychic and Steel-type Incense Day in Pokemon GO.

Date/Times: The Pyschic and Steel-type Incense Day will run from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM local time on Sunday, March 14. During this time, incense will attract Psychic or Steel-type Pokemon, alternating every hour.

In addition, any Metang evolved during the event will yield a Metagross that knows the Steel-type charged move Meteor Mash. Be on the lookout for Shiny Beldum, which is a pleasant sort of lighter steel color with a bit of gold accent.

Spawns: While these aren’t the only spawns available, Niantic has given us an idea of what we can expect during each segment. Beldum is both types, so it will presumably spawn all day.

MORE FOR YOU

  • Psychic: Beldum,Natu, Girafaring, Meditite, Baltor, Munna(rare)
  • Steel: Beldum, Alolan Diglett, Magnemite, Aron, Bronzor, Shieldon(rare)

Schedule: The day will start with Psychic-types and then alternate from there, but here’s a handy cheat sheet for your reference:

  • 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. local time: Psychic-type Pokémon
  • 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m. local time: Steel-type Pokémon
  • 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. local time: Psychic-type Pokémon
  • 2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. local time: Steel-type Pokémon
  • 3:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. local time: Psychic-type Pokémon
  • 4:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. local time: Steel-type Pokémon

And those are the basics. If you’re a free-to-play player, make sure to grab the 1 Pokecoin incense bundle from the store and to be strategic about when to use it. Othwerise, you’re going to want to prioritze Beldum and Shieldon, if you can. Shieldon can evolve into Bastiodon, which is a handy PvE Pokemon, and Metagross has its applications in both PvE and PvP, particularly if you can grab Meteor Mash and the add charged attack Psychic into the mix for good measure. Good luck, and happy hunting.
