Pokémon Go is having a Johto region event from Jan. 26 until Jan. 31, increasing the spawn rate for the Pokémon from that region.
During the event period, Johto region Pokémon like Chikorita, Cyndaquil, Totodile, Hoppip, Miltank, and more will be appearing more frequently. Miltank will also be available Shiny for the first time.

Baby Pokémon from Johto, like Pichu, Cleffa, and Tyrogue, will also be hatching out of five kilometer eggs that are obtained during the event period.
Notably, evolving some Pokémon will teach it the rare Community Day move from past Community Days. Meganium will learn Frenzy Plant, Typhlosion will learn Blast Burn, Ampharos will learn Dragon Pulse, and Tyranitar will learn Smack Down. These moves are powerful and worth collecting if you don’t have them already.
Entei will also return to raids as the featured five-star boss.
As with the previous events, this one has a lot of tasks and challenges to complete, including Field Research, Timed Research, and a Collection Challenge.
