A new trailer for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet is now live, offering another look at the highly anticipated Nintendo Switch games ahead of their launch this November.

The trailer, which you can watch below, provides a closer look at the “treasure hunt” aspect of your journey. Unlike previous Pokemon games, Scarlet and Violet are open-world adventures, letting you tackle the story in any order you please.

Per tradition, part of your goal involves traveling the region challenging gym leaders. As in Pokemon Sword and Shield, you’ll first need to complete a “gym test” before you can battle that gym’s leader. Each test will involve a different kind of challenge; one, for instance, asks you to round up hidden Sunflora before you can battle the grass-type gym leader, Brassius.

The trailer also offers our first look at Scarlet and Violet’s villainous team, Team Star — a group of delinquent students comprised of several different squads. Each squad is headed up by a different boss, such as the fire-type trainer Mela. Before you can challenge a boss, however, you’ll need to battle through waves of Team Star grunts within a set time limit.

In addition to the gym challenge, you can spend your time in Scarlet and Violet assisting the upperclassman Arven in his search for rare herbs along the Path of Legends. However, this area is guarded by colossal Titan Pokemon, which are bigger and more powerful than the ones typically found around the Paldea region, and you’ll need to help Arven defeat them to acquire the herbs.

We’ve been getting a steady drip feed of details about Scarlet and Violet since the titles were first revealed back in February. Last week, we got a look at a brand-new poison Pokemon called Grafaiai. Before that, the Pokemon Company shared a battle-focused trailer during the 2022 Pokemon World Championships that showcased some new items and moves.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet will launch for the Nintendo Switch on Nov. 18. Everyone who purchases a copy before Feb. 28, 2023, will be able to receive a special bonus Pikachu in their game.
